Themes and variations at Peggy Guggenheim Collection

On February 18, 2009, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection has introduced the programme of the exhibitions of year 2009 under the title of Masterpieces of Futurism at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, on the centenary of this great avant-gard artistic movement that influenced all European Arts. The program is curated by Philip Rylands.
This will also be the debut of a recent gift to the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, Sironi’s early masterpiece The Cyclist (1916).
The exhibition includes three of Boccioni’sfour extant sculptures: in addition to the mixed media Dynamism of a Speeding Horse + Houses,bronze cast of his celebrated Development of a Bottle in Space and Unique Forms of Continuity inSpace.
An introductory section of paintings, sculptures and drawings contextualizes the Futurist movement.
The program of The Peggy Guggenheim Collection continues with Themes and Variations: From the Mark to Zero , curated by Luca Massimo Barbero that will be opened on March 21.
Also the curator Luca Massimo Barbero proposes a personal exposition dedicated to one of the most interesting painters from the Young British Artistis: Jason Martin (Vigil/Veglia). Ten monochrome works, refined and luminous, some of which were espressly created for this Venetian exhibition.
