Italian popular proverb: "Chi non mangia l'oca a San Martino non prende il becco di un quattrino"

The traditional event of the 'Game of the Goose' takes place in the old town centre of Mirano, in Piazza Martiri, from the beginning days of November till Saint Martino's Day. All the citizens are involved in this event: restaurants offer different dishes containing goose and many exhibitions or shows honour this special animal, so important in the country tradition of Mirano and its neighbourhood.

In the old town centre you can walk between the stands of 'Ocaria', the ancient street market based on the atmosphere of the beginning of the twentieth century, while on the way you can meet street artists such as jugglers, fire-eaters, acrobats and puppeteers bringing joy to the autumnal climate with their performances.
A curiosity connected to the event: during the feast in Luneo Street, not far from the centre of Mirano, every year takes place a special challenge, the Race of the Goose.
