Museums at Night on 16th May 2009
This initiative was launched by the French Culture and Comunication Departments in 2005, involving all European institutions and associations.
On 16th May 2009 many public museums throughout Italy and Europe will be open to the public, to a
background of debates, competitions, conferences and exhibitions, all free of charge.
This year the event relies on
the support of some other countries’ collaboration such as Scotland,
Northern Ireland, while Belgium, Serbia and Copenaghen, Barcelona and
Bucarest will extend their own proposals.
This initiative aims at allowing people, whom have not the opportunity
to visit museums during the day, to discover the Italian artistic
patrimony.
By the intervetion of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, and with the patronage of UNESCO, Italy will play the role of national coordinator of its own territorial institutes.
