Regata di Mestre
On 10th May at 4 p.m. there is the Regata of Mestre, the event that opens the Rowing Season. The most famous champions of the row will participate at the regata which is disputed on 6 rows caorline.
The race course starts from the Canale dei Marani and pass through the Canale "La Nave", Canale di S. Secondo and ends at Punta San Giuliano. The arrival of the regata is visible from San Giuliano Park.

Festa della Sensa
The Festa della Sensa (or Ascension Day Festival) commemorates an historical event that took place in May the 9th 1000, confirming Venecian dominion on the sea with the famous annual “Nuptial”. Today the event takes place every year on Ascension Day and it is one of the most important and sumptuous celebrations interweaving the legend, myth and history of the city.

Sembrerebbe il classico annuncio di una prossima regata, ma non è così, in quanto è una vecchia regata che si teneva tra l'Ottocento e il Novecento a Venezia. Una regata su gondola ma è anche il titolo e l'argomento dell'ultimo libro scritto dallo storico Giorgio Crovato.
