A Gift To Marco Polo: Contemporary Art from China
On the occasion of the 53rd Biennale Art Exhibition, the exhibition “A Gift to Marco Polo: Contemporary Art from China” will take place at Venice International University in San Servolo Isle from June 3 to July 2, 2009. On display the works of 9 prominent Chinese contemporary artists: Zhang Xiaogang, Zhou Chunya, He Duoling, Wang Guangyi, Fang Lijun, Yue Minjun, Zhang Peili, Wu Shanzhuan and Ye Fang.
As a tribute to Marco Polo, the participating artists combine elements from the East and West in their interpretations of Italian art, European culture and western civilization. Their work reflects what makes modern and the modern Oriental.
The opening ceremony will take place at VIU on the Island of San Servolo on June 2 at 6.00 pm.

The 53rd International Art Exhibition, entitled Fare Mondi // Making Worlds directed by Daniel Birnbaum, organized by La Biennale di Venezia chaired by Paolo Baratta, will open to the public from Sunday June 7th to Sunday November 22nd 2009 in the Giardini (50,000 sq.m.) and the Arsenale (38,000 sq.m.) as well as in various other locations around the city. The press preview will take place on June 4th, 5th, and 6th 2009.
