Teatro La Fenice - Götterdämmerung di Richard Wagner
Opera season 2009
The complete cycle of Richard Wagner’s Ring des Nibelungen that began in 2006 with Die Walküre and continued in 2007 with Siegfried is to continue in the 2009 Opera Season with Götterdämmerung (The Twilight of the Gods). It will be performed at Teatro La Fenice Thursday 25th June 2009 with repeat performances on 28th June and 1st, 4th and 7th July.
As was the case for the other days, the direction is by Robert Carsen, scenography and costume design by Patrick Kinmonth, first performed at the Cologne Opera House in the 2003-2004 season. Darko Petrovic is in charge of the set design for Teatro La Fenice. Once again, Jeffrey Tate (assisted by choirmaster Claudio Marino) will be conducting the Orchestra and Choir of Teatro La Fenice. The cast includes Stefan Vinke as Siegfried, Olaf Bär as Gunther, Gidon Saks and Werner Van Mechelen as Hagen and Alberich; Jayne Casselman will play the role of Brünnhilde and Nicola Beller Carbone will be Gutrune; the cast continues with Natasha Petrinski as the Valkyrie Waltraute, Ceri Williams, Julie Mellor and Alexandra Wilson as the three Norns, Eva Oltiványi, Stefanie Irányi and Katharina Peetz as the three daughters of the Rhein. The opera will be in German with Italian over-titles.
