Cultural Centre Candiani - Video store of Mestre This public archive, active from January 2003, is intended to keep, catalogue and evaluate Mestre, Marghera, the Venetian mainland’s audiovisual heritage.
It offers 12 stations for individual consultation endowed with 21 inch TV screens, DVD and VHS players, and headsets; a computer station with access to an informative catalogue for guided research and consultation of the Istituto Luce’s archive which preserves about 200.000 pieces of information.

The Video store also offers a conference room with 140 seats, and a seminar room for 50 people where, besides cinematographic events, it also organizes meetings, debates and presentations. The conference room - where video projection from several sources, registration, web connection, data transmission, simultaneous translations and video conferences all take place - and the seminar room – endowed with a small independent direction for PC, VHS, DVD projections and for registrations – are especially good for scientific conferences and meetings and are free for public use on booking.
Amongst its activities, the most relevant are: Mestre Film Fest, an international event on short films and videos for young people with prizes, organized every year in October together with important institutions and cultural associations; Raccontare Mestre, a writing contest on cinema organized by Mestre’s video store of the Candiani Cultural Centre, in union with Cinit (an Italian’s film club, the ‘Cultural Club, Walter Tobagi’) and with the production society Controcampo, under Annalisa Bruni’s didactic direction.
It is an experimental and learning experience in cinema writing and film directing especially for young people. Its aim is to stimulate and provoke ideas to catalogue a type of urban audiovisual history. Coordinamento Cinema-Scuola, is a group of teachers whose job it is to create an archive of video materials produced by school students of every age and school classification, from all over Venice and around.
The aim is to promote and evaluate cinematographic language within schools as an instrument of knowledge, of expression for students and of experience of reality.
It adheres to AVI (Italian Video store Association)

Individual consultation: from Tuesday to Friday from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. and from 3.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m.; Saturday from 10.00 a.m. to 1 p.m. (closed on Sundays and Mondays).

Centro Studi Storici di Mestre

Il Centro Studi Storici di Mestre è sorto il 20 marzo 1961 come gruppo di studio con lo scopo di promuovere, coordinare e divulgare attività di carattere storico, artistico e culturale riguadanti la città di Mestre e le zone limitrofe. Solo alcuni anni più tardi, l’8 giugno 1979, il Centro Studi Storici di Mestre si è costituito formalmente in Associazione.

Fondazione del Duomo di Mestre

La Fondazione del Duomo di Mestre costituisce un significativo polo di riflessione e dibattito sui problemi e sulle aspettative della città di Venezia, a partire dall’esperienza già acquisita dai soggetti culturali che gravitano attorno al Duomo di San Lorenzo di Mestre. La Fondazione stimola il confronto tra le diverse entità del territorio cittadino e il territorio circostante e promuove la valorizzazione del ruolo di Venezia e Mestre in ambito europeo e globale, per agevolare il dialogo tra le diverse culture, civiltà e religioni.

Fondazione Gianni Pellicani

La Fondazione Gianni Pellicani, inaugurata nel marzo 2007 alla presenza dell'allora Presidente della Repubblica Napolitano, è nata dalla volontà di Gianni Pellicani di creare a Venezia e a Mestre un soggetto culturale capace di svolgere e promuovere attività di ricerca e di formazione legate ai temi della politica e dello sviluppo culturale e sociale della comunità a livello internazionale e locale.

Storie di un impiegato

Nell'ambito della rassegna Emozioni acustiche (musica acustica senza alcun ausilio di elettronica, solo gli artisti, i loro strumenti e tanta emozione) sabato 17 ottobre alle 21.30 si esibiranno al Centro Culturale Candiani i FabEnsemble, tribute band che interpreta a suo modo il repertorio del grande Fabrizio De André.
