Openair Carnival!
The Venice Carnival has always been an openair
festival held in the streets and squares, with a wild atmosphere
that sometimes even erupted into violence...
There were battles between gangs from the different districts of the city, on the bridges that are still today known as Ponti dei Pugni (bridges of fists).
During this year’s Carnival celebrations, the same bridges will be the scene for battles between bands of a different nature, with no dead or injured, even though the contestants have at least as much energy as their 18th-century counterparts.
Beside concerts and shows, in the strees will be back the most traditional events in the Carnival calendar, such as the Festa delle Marie and the Flight of the Angel...
