La Biennale di Venezia è da oltre un secolo una delle istituzioni culturali più prestigiose al mondo e più all'avanguardia nella promozione delle nuove tendenze artistiche e nell’organizzazione di  manifestazioni internazionali delle arti contemporanee, secondo un modello pluridisciplinare che ne caratterizza l'unicità.

The Venice Film Festival  is the oldest Film Festival in the World, and takes place every year in early September on the Lido island, in the historic Palazzo del Cinema on the Lungomare Marconi, in Venice. The first edition of the Venice Film Festival took place in 1932, together with the 18.Venice Biennale, the major biennial exhibition for contemporary art, after an idea of Conte Giuseppe Volpi. 

The 64th Venice Film Festival ended Saturday 8 September with the official awards ceremony in the Sala Grande at the Palazzo del Cinema. During the ceremony the Golden Lion of the 75th Anniversary was presented to Bernardo Bertolucci.  The Golden Lion for Best Film goes to Se, Jie (Lust, Caution) by Ang Lee, the Silver Lion for Best Director goes to Brian De Palma for Redacted.

The 63. edition of the Festival, directed by Marco Muller, begins on August 30th at the Lido Cinema Palace in Venice. The Film Festival kicks off with the world premiere of Brian De Palma's The Black Dahlia, adaptation of the novel by James Ellroy, about the notorious unsolved murder of an aspiring actor in 1940s Los Angeles. The first film screening in in this year's line-up opens the way to several high-tension films based on real-life events, many drawn from American 20th-century history, where we'll see crime stories, played by misterious criminals, dark ladies, intelligence agents.

Spaghetti Western is the fourth edition of a special section of the Venice Film Festival, a tribute to the Secret History of Italian Cinema.
Quentin Tarantino will be the 'godfather' of the retrospective at the Venice Film Festival dedicated to the best italian western films.

The line-up of the 64th Venice International Film Festival, that will run at Venice Lido from August 29 to September 8.

Blade Runner: The Final Cut di Ridley Scott sarà il film sorpresa della sezione Mezzanotte della 64. Mostra del Cinema di Venezia, presentato in anteprima mondiale sabato 1 settembre a mezzanotte in Sala Grande alla presenza del regista.

Il Queer Lion Award a Venezia non sarà un concorso a parte e il Queer Lion non sarà un premio per i film che non sono stati inseriti nelle varie categorie ma un Leone in più che verrà assegnato al film che per i suoi contenuti ha saputo raccontare meglio le tematiche omosessuali. Sono 12 i film in gara per il Leone Gay, alcuni dei quali concorrono per il Leone d’Oro, altri per i premi delle sezioni fuori concorso, Orizzonti, Settimana della critica e Giornate degli autori...

La Mostra del Cinema chiude un anno tutto sommato felice per la Biennale. Nel complesso i risultati sono stati ottimi, con un’edizione di Arte di altissimo livello sia in termini di contenuti che di affluenza, con la Danza e il Teatro che hanno confermato le loro posizioni, con un coinvolgimento particolare del territorio per quanto riguarda il festival goldoniano di Scaparro, con una Biennale Musica che si preannuncia molto fertile sul terreno del futuro.

The Spaghetti Western revolution was that of radically modifying the way to watch films: from the classic vision, in which the film itself is the narrative vector, telling tales and stimulating fantasy, the love of adventure, the pleasant sensation of almost participating in the action, to a ritual vision, in which the pleasure linked to the narration of the story is secondary with respect to the genre itself, to the exhilaration caused by sharing the rules and elements which indicate that these films belong to a genre.

Mercoledi 5, nella Sala Grande del Palazzo del Cinema, Johnny Depp ha consegnato il Leone d'Oro alla Carriera della 64. Mostra Internazionale d'Arte Cinematografica a Tim Burton: "E' il mio regista preferito e un vero amico."

In the open-air spaces at Venice Lido from 30 August to 14 October, “Open, the International Exhibition of Sculptures and Installations”, celebrates its first ten years.
Ten years of sculptures, installations, happenings and performances, showing how art can invade the outside environment to attract the observer, capturing his gaze and cheering his soul.

Con la tradizionale cerimonia, seguita dalla proiezione del film d'apertura di Joel e Ethan Coen, Burn after reading, si è aperta il 27 agosto al Lido di Venezia la 65. Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica, organizzata dalla Biennale di Venezia, che prosegue fino a sabato 6 settembre con un calendario delle proiezioni si articola in 11 giornate.
