Venice Movie Star Photography Award is the first photographic competition dedicated to the best images taken during the Venice International Film Festival, organised in collaboration with La Biennale di Venezia.
Launched in 2004, the Venice Movie Star Photography Award aims at highlighting the work of those photographers present at the famous Venetian festival who, through their photographs, capture the most important moments of the event while underlines the central role of photography as a form of art and communication and its deep link with the cinema.
Since it began in 1932, the Venice International Film Festival has hosted the best of world cinematography. Each year photo-reporters have continued to tell the world of the glories, the success and the gossip of the ten incredible days in which the ‘Palazzo del Cinema’, capturing forever the most intimate emotions of the protagonists in this Venetian kermesse.

The 64th Venice Film Festival ended Saturday 8 September with the official awards ceremony in the Sala Grande at the Palazzo del Cinema. During the ceremony the Golden Lion of the 75th Anniversary was presented to Bernardo Bertolucci.
The Golden Lion for Best Film goes to Se, Jie (Lust, Caution) by Ang Lee, the Silver Lion for Best Director goes to Brian De Palma for Redacted.
