Marghera Village Estate 2008
From 11th June to 24th August, 2008 MARGHERA ESTATE VILLAGE will be back at the Parco Panorama in Marghera for its 10th edition.
Concerts in programme will be staged by some of the best known bands in the region who have always supported the festival from its beginnings in 1999.
Some evenings will be dedicated to tribute bands, giving us a reproduction of all the best Italian and international music from Vasco to Genesis, or from Battiato to Deep Purple.
But because it’s the 10th edition Marghera Estate Village organisers are saving a few surprises along the way. There’ll be internationally famous Hélio Delmiro (3rd July) and especially Omara Portuondo , the diva of Cuban music and queen of the Buena Vista Social Club (14th July). There will be big name Italian artists such as Francesco Boldini (20th June), Bebo Best & Super Lounge Orchestra (28th June), Tolo Marton (30th June), le Orme (17th July), Luciferme (26th July) and Sir Oliver Skardy and Fahrenheit 451 (4th August).
As with every year, there will be nights dedicated to different music styles. On Tuesdays, in collaboration with Wha Wha Club, there will be a list of the best independent Italian bands on stage at the Marghera Estate Village such as Amari, Jennifer Gentle, Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti. On Wednesdays the Village will rock to Latino music. Fridays are dedicated to American country and blues.
Opening night on 17th June, with free entrance, will be a concert given by Art Brut, one of the most talked about London bands on the scene at the moment. Art Brut was responsible for ‘inventing’ Art Punk.
Apart from concerts there will be dance music, new food sensations at the seven restaurants that cater to the Village and ethnic stalls. The Marghera Estate Village is a hot meeting place for the hot summer nights. Back
