Sant'Apollonia. Omar Galliani e qualche dente di Andy Warhol
A virgin, her teeth and two big artists. These are the ingredients of the exhibition “Santa Apollonia, Omar Galliani e qualche dente di Andy Warhol”, on display at the Museo Diocesano (chiostro di Sant'Apollonia) from June 4th to August 15th.
In the Chiostro dedicated to the Saint protector of toothache and patron of dentists we will assist to another chapter of her iconography.
Her tragedy date back to 249 when she was slayed in Alessandria d'Egitto by a group of pagans. She was so brutally hit that she lost all her teeth.
This story affected the two artists: Andy Warhol e Omar Galliani. Andy Warhol realized in 1984 a series of paper works dedicated to the Saint, while Omar Galliani has realized 7 big works expressly for this exhibitio.
