In Weil’s works, beauty is a central theme. In her unfinished tragedy “Venice saved”, beauty represents salvation. Weil’s play is about a 17th century plot of the Spanish Empire to destroy the Venetian Republic by bribing key elements of Venice’s mercenary army to betray the city. The plot would have worked, but the night before it was to happen a key conspirator, Jaffier, having pity for Venice, thanks to her beauty, went to the city’s secret council of 10 and gave them all the info. 

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Simone Weil's birth some of  the most important women artists of XX century has realized works inspired by the book. The opening will take place on Wednesday 3rd June at 6.30 p.m. with the Councillor Luana Zanella
