The tour continues with the visit of the Historic Maritime Museum whose
site is in the ancient wheat storehouse of the Serenissima, built in
1322.
The museum is full of items belonging to the Venetian and Italian
navy. The tour ends walking along Riva degli Schiavoni to St Mark’s
Square to see more lions, those on the façade of St Mark’s Church and
on the columns of the Doge’s Palace, and St Todaro’s dragon.
This is an itinerary through the maritime power of the Serenissima. The tour starts from the Arsenale, a building of industrial, maritime and military importance.
