To celebrate the 400th anniversary of the first astronomical discoveries of Galileo, the Veneto pays homage to the scientist, who made some of his most important discoveries in the territory of the Republic of Venicewith a conferences, exhibitions, shows and workshops. The event I mondi di Galileo will take place in Venice from 23rd to 28th September in occasion of the International Year of Astronomy.

The event, realized by Veneto Region and Fondazione Scuola di San Giorgio, in collaboration with Codice. Idee per la cultura and with some of the most prestigious cultural and artistic Venetian institutions (Fondazione Giorgio Cini, Università degli Studi di Padova, Università Ca’ Foscari, Circuito teatrale regionale Arte Ven, Fondazione Peggy Guggenheim, Fondazione Teatro La Fenice), want to describe the various figures making up “Galileo the personage” : Galileo the astronomer, Galileo the experimental scientist, Galileo the forerunner, Galileo the restless spirit, Galileo the multifaceted personality.
