7th International Festival of Contemporary Dance - Capturing Emotions
Biennale Danza
The dance, "a a workshop of human emotions and shared visions” will be the protagonist in Venice from May 26 to June 12 during the 7th International Festival of Contemporary Dance. Capturing Emotions is the title the director, Ismael Ivo, has chosen for this Festival. His new coreography Oxygen, interoreted by the students of Arsenale della Danza will open these weeks dedicated to the most innovative works of choreographers working with the language of dance.
The Festival focuses above all on two geographic and cultural macro-areas: Quebec and Canada on the one side, and Australia and New Zealand on the other, but there will be also choreographers from other countries as Italy, United States and Sweden, with original works presented as world premieres for the Biennale.
A new feature of this edition will be the opening of a separate space, Marathon of the Unexpected, dedicated to the most experimental experiences in the field of dance, revealing pieces that would otherwise be little visible.
During the Festival the Golden Lion will be assigned to the American coreographer William Forsythe,
The numbers of Festival:
36 performances, 5 world premieres, 7 European and 8 Italian premieres, 20 choreographers, 16 companies, a new “off” section dedicated to new works, a choreography workshop, meetings with protagonists of international dance: this is the 7th International Festival of Contemporary Dance.

Teatro alle Tese, Teatro Piccolo Arsenale, Tese delle Vergini, Teatro Malibran, Sale Apollinee della Fenice, Teatro Fondamenta Nuove e Teatro Toniolo di Mestre.
