Stagione Lirica e Balletto 2009

A  not to be missed date - Tuesday 29th September 2009, with repeat performances on 30th September, 1st, 2nd and 3rd October the Hamburg Ballet Company will be performing at Teatro La Fenice, directed by John Neumeier with the performance the great American choreographer created in 2003 - the Italian première of Tod in Venedig (Death in Venice).

Tod in Venedig, a “macabre dance”, inspired by the short story by Thomas Mann (already used as the source of Britten’s opera Death in Venice in 1973) and recently presented by Fondazione Teatro La Fenice). Based on music by Johann Sebastian Bach and Richard Wagner with Elizabeth Cooper on the piano, Neumeier's choreography is set against the scenery by Peter Schmidt and costumes by Neumeier himself (also in charge of lighting) together with Peter Schmidt.
