Getting to Venice by ship
If you are among those lucky tourists arriving in Venice by ship, from the port you can easily reach the very heart of Venice, Saint Mark's square, using the private waterbuses of Alilaguna or the public tranport ACTV.
Alilaguna is a private company for the public transport connecting the historic centre of Venice with the port of Venice, at San Basilio. The ticket costs 5 euro.
For detailed information on the Alilaguna timetables you can check www.alilaguna.it
You can also take the ACTV public tranport (number 2 or 51) from San Basilio, the boarding point near the port of Venice.
For information about the price of tickets and the timetables visit www.actv.it
From the passenger terminal it is possible to reach the historic centre of Venice by foot.

The best way to see the city, feel the atmosphere and discover the hidden corners is on foot. If, on the other hand, you want to see the palaces on the Grand Canal and are strapped for time, it is best to take a boat. The public boat service, run by the Actv, stops at all the main points of interest in the city and outlying islands.
If you arrive in Venice by plane you can easily reach the historic centre with one of the many public transport services connecting Venice with its main airport, Marco Polo or with the Ryanair airport Canova - San Giuseppe.
It's better if you decide not to arrive to Venice by car but if you really want to - or maybe you ought to! - you must leave your car in one of the car parks near Venice, Piazzale Roma (the bus terminal) or Tronchetto and then you can continue by foot or by boat...
The best way to reach Venice is by train because you arrive closer to the city centre.
