A new festival has born: International Festival of Performance
A new Venice Biennale festival dedicated to young performers has born: the International Festival of Performance that will take place in May 2010 at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in the Giardini in Venice. A window of creative dialogue between generations where young artists can meet artists of international fame.
The Festival intends to guarantee support for the young generations working in experimental research involving various artistic sectors (visual arts, dance, music, theatre, poetry), promote projects associated with performance in the visual arts, promote the culture of interdisciplinarity at local, national and international level and attract artists and public by focussing interest and presences in periods outside those of the International Exhibitions of Art and Architecture.
An open contest, to be published in December 2009 on the institutional website, www.labiennale.org, will enable young artists from the Veneto Region, Italy and the rest of the world to present requests for admission. In the first phase, the proposals of artists from the Veneto Region will be evaluated through a pre-selection of 20 projects and a further evaluation to identify the one that will participate in the final phase.
Successively, an international jury will select the other 11 projects from all the other national and international ones received. The 11 artists, together with the artist from the Veneto, will than take part in the final selection, with which the jury will reward the winning entry. The artists sending a request to participate must be recent graduates from art school or be frequenting the last year of studies.
