Vogalonga
Vogalonga it’s a
spring celebration, born in the ’70 thanks to some Venetians, to remember "Serenissima" traditions and to point citizens and authorities attention at the problem
of waves’ movement in Venice.
The run starts from San Marco in front of Duke's Palace and it goes on for 30 km around the islands of the lagoon, and then back to Venice through Cannareggio’s Rio.
It isn’t a real competition but it’s a discovery of the lagoon and its hidden landscapes.
During the last few years the Vogalonga became more and more popular and today over 1500 boats of Venicians and foreigns participate to the run every year.

The Vogalonga competition takes part in Venice history since its birth it is one on the main events, especially spring. Vogalonga's birth is due to a few Venetians and has always been supported only by the participants. This year it will take place sunday 27 of may.
The Palio of the Ancient Maritime Republics
It's a yearly boat race between the four Italian Maritime Republics that
sailed the seas in medieval times. It's hosted, in turn, on the
Mediterranean sea at Amalfi and Genoa, on the Arno in Pisa and on the
lagoon in Venice, to celebrate the history and memories of
the four maritime cities.
